Transfer round up

Posted by Hadi Sunday, August 18, 2013 0 comments

The new season officially kicks off on the 27th against STL and barring any late drama, it seems like the Metrostars have survived another summer with their squad intact. Here's a rundown of the transfer window activity during an eventful pre-season:

Arsenal bid $401 for Sepol, falsely beleiving it would trigger a release clause in his contract, leaving teammate Alai to comment;

Real Madrid panic and submit a £100 million bid for Gareth Bale after the welsh wizard is spotted with Metrostars owner Montgomery Burns.

Reports from overseas say Gigsy is unhappy at Mumong but the player later claims his comments were misquoted in the papers and the meaning was lost in translation.

Metrostars fully behind star player

Posted by Hadi Sunday, October 3, 2010 0 comments

The Metrostars have confirmed that club legend Lee Yuan Soon will be unavailable for 9 months beginning November 2010.

The Mumong Academy graduate will be in Singapore with Biro Mencegah Rasuah. Tabloids are reporting that Soon is under investigation for match fixing, charges which the player himself strongly denies.

In the meantime, Soon, who has scored 25 career goals for his homegrown club, will be available for selection.

The dust has only just settled on speculation that the left footed playmaker would be leaving the club after stong interest from Shaolin FC. Metrostars FC have released a statement saying the club are fully behind their player.

Tabloids speculate on key duo

Posted by Hadi Tuesday, September 22, 2009 0 comments

Manchester City's recent striker problems caused manager Mark Hughes a major selection headache recently with both Tevez and Santa Cruz injured and Adebayor banned following a riot-inciting celebration against Arsenal.

Reports from the UK suggest Dubai-owned City could be splashing even more cash by luring Sepol and Harmoney to the 'Middle' Eastlands.

The Metrostars would be devastated to lose their two latest signings, who played instrumental roles in their superb run at the end of last season, contributing a combined 23 goals in a relatively short time.

In other news, Lee Yuan Soon has critisised Eduardo's dive against Celtic which nearly earned the striker an European ban. Soon claims that his own dives are far more convincing.
