Metrostars bad-boy Zamri L has re-ignited his fued with ex-England captain David Beckham. The two first butted heads during an LA Galaxy vs Metrostars friendly (photo) where an argument broke out over kit clashing and who was suppose to bring the bibs. Metrostars bow out of tournament

Posted by Hadi Sunday, February 15, 2009 5 comments

The Metrostars entered the tournament as clear underdogs, playing in their first competition for 6 years. They only managed a solitary point, their finishing deserting them though they created many great chances. But they played good football with great heart and of course, more importantly.. looked good doing it.

vs Anns United (0-3)
The Metrostars continued their habit of slow starts, conceding two quick goals and a third in the second half. They only managed one shot in the whole game, Yasir's free kick forcing a save from the keeper.

vs Dragon Team A (0-1)
The Metrostars responded positively and began this game with a frenzy of attacks, Boi and Mohammad linking up superbly to force save after save. It was a sign of things to come when top-scorer Hadi blazed over the bar from 2 yards out with the keeper stranded. The team continued to press after conceeding an unlucky goal but it was clear they lacked a cutting edge up front.

vs Vizard (0-1)
An even game where Zamri Z had the best chance, his shot cleared off the line by the trailing foot of the goalkeeper. The Metrostars were beaten by a great goal blasted in from the left wing.

vs Sparx (0-0)
The Metrostars gave everything in this game, but chance after chance was wasted. The opposition was limited to a single shot which Khalid tipped over the bar. It was clear that luck had deserted them as this was a game they should have won but had to settle for a point.

vs V5 FC Y (0-2)
Playing against the team that would top the group, the Metrostars played knowing they had nothing to lose. They went 1-0 down early on and pushed forward for an equaliser but a second goal late on ended any hopes of a comeback.

Ferguson writes off Metrostars title challenge

Posted by Hadi Wednesday, February 11, 2009 0 comments

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed the Metrostars' chances in the upcoming BOW tournament.

The Manchester United supremo has underlined the Metrostars' inexperience as a stumbling block in their bid to lift the cup. "They have a great team but they are going into the unknown and, at this stage, if you make mistakes you get punished."

Ferguson is famous for his mind games and has managed to get under the skin of rivals like Kevin Keegan, Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez in the past.

A club spokesman has laughed off Ferguson's comments saying "he sounds nervous, we must be getting good".

Metrostars make Deadline Day signing

Posted by Hadi Tuesday, February 3, 2009 0 comments

The Metrostars have swooped on Transfer Deadline Day to sign centre-back Syarul who has been on-loan for the last two games. The defender has been immense at the heart of defence for the Metrostars in his last two games which prompted the Metrosexual Superstars to offer him a permanent deal. The new number 24 signed within hours of the 5pm transfer deadline and is a welcome addition to the Metrostars' growing squad.

Wafi shrugs off Man City link

Posted by Hadi Sunday, February 1, 2009 0 comments

Aside from failing to attract Brazilian superstar Kaka to the club, free-spending Manchester City have also had an £18.5m bid for Roque Santa Cruz turned down.

Shay Given, Kolo Toure and Wafi are reportedly next on Mark Hughes's shopping list. However, the Metrostar's agent has stated that he is "very happy" at Mumong and there has been no offer from the 'Middle Eastlands'.

Of course, City would have no problem matching his current wages since the Metrostars do not pay their players anything anyway.
