With the Metrostars heavily in debt following the global financial crisis (we still owe some money for the team jerseys), speculation has been rife that club owner Montgomery Burns is looking to sell the club.
However, Mr Burns clarified in a press conference that he was not looking for buyers and more importantly, he denied that he would be forced to sell his star players to re-finance the club.
"Nobody wants them anyway," he said.
With Real Madrid looking to build a new generation of Galacticos, having signed superstars Kaka and Ronaldo, and reportedly still chasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Villa, the Metrostars have moved to offer star player Mohamad a long-term deal that will tie him to the club for the considerable future.
Unlike Kaka and Ronaldo, Mamat's new deal will not see any increase in salary, meaning like the rest of the Metrostars, he will not be paid anything.

Current squad in attendance: Zamri L, Soon, Deddy, Khairul, Muhaimin, Muhd M, Yasmi, Auni
