Gigsy joined in 2008/2009 as part of the new generation of Metrostars recruited to complement the old guard. He has quickly established himself as an essential part of the spine of the team as a tough tackling centre back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He has also put in some admirable performances in goal and perhaps his finest moment in a Metrostars shirt was his Goal of the Season-winning effort in 2009/10 when, after a fine save, he dribbled past the entire team and scored.

The new season officially kicks off on the 27th against STL and barring any late drama, it seems like the Metrostars have survived another summer with their squad intact. Here's a rundown of the transfer window activity during an eventful pre-season:

Arsenal bid $401 for Sepol, falsely beleiving it would trigger a release clause in his contract, leaving teammate Alai to comment;

Real Madrid panic and submit a £100 million bid for Gareth Bale after the welsh wizard is spotted with Metrostars owner Montgomery Burns.

In 2012/13, the Metrostars debuted a brand new blue kit which guaranteed no kit clashes since other teams were left green with envy. Despite a new venue, there was a shortage of games, although the team managed a respectable points total and a better points to games ratio than the previous season (1.69 vs 1.59). No new signings but off the pitch, Razley, Muhd M and Naz all tied the knot.
