American real estate tycoon Stanley Monopoly has sparked a bidding war for control of the Metrostars.
The billionaire, who was #6 on the Forbes rich list as recently as 2006, is keen to add a sporting franchise to his community chest which already contains several utilities, railroads and hotels.
In a surprise move, Mr. Monopoly seems to have betrayed his friend and occasional business partner Mr. Burns by putting in a counter offer for the Metrostars.Reports suggest that the bidding has reached upwards of 11, and perhaps even 12, dollars.
Metrostars fans may be against the takeover however, as a stadium move would reportedly become part of any deal and a move away from Mumong, the Metrostar's home for over 10 years, will be fiercely resisted.
