The Nigerian consortium about to take over Newcastle United will make the Tyneside club the latest to fall into the hands of foreign investors. With the world's biggest clubs now owned by billionaires [Man United and Liverpool (USA), Chelsea (Russia) and Man City (Abu Dhabi)], rumours have persisted for weeks that the Metrostars are next.
An inside source has confirmed that a bid has been received from a wealthy American businessman named Montgomery Burns (pictured). Mr. Burns is the owner and CEO of Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and Forbes estimates his fortune at an impressive US$16.8 billion.
While Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is asking for £400 million for his club, the Metrostars are expected to sell for nearly 10 dollars.
When asked how he rates the Metrostars' title chances if his bid is accepted, Mr. Burns replied with a sinister "Excellent" while tenting his fingertips.
It remains to be seen whether the Metrostars will accept the offer from an individual who has such a questionable past after the controversy surrounding the deal to buy Man City by Thailand's exiled/arrested ex-Prime Minister; Thaksin Shinawatra.
