Metrostars won't splash cash in January

Posted by Hadi Sunday, December 13, 2009

The Metrosexual Superstars have taken a similar stance to that of Alex Ferguson's Man United in the upcoming January transfer window. Neither club will be spending any money.

Ferguson reckons the £80m Real Madrid paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, coupled with other bigmoney deals such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic's £60.7m move to Barcelona and Carlos Tevez's £47m signing by Manchester City, have distorted the market.

"I don't think there is any value in the market. Last summer's deals inflated it," said the Scotsman "It was silly season, with the prices paid for players. There is a danger that this situation could continue for a while. There is a World Cup and a young player could emerge and there could be an escalation in his value. But it doesn't change my view that we must keep looking for value.”

Meanwhile, Metrostars owner Montgomery Burns offered a simpler explanation for why his club will not be spending any money. "There isn't any."
